Finally, an update Jul. 13th, 2005 @ 11:46 pm
and not before time too!

Well my parents are back in about 12 hours from Mexico, so I am taking a break from the cleaning so i can have a fresh look at the place and have it shining nicely. Mainly so I can get my tequilla and my new watch and not have my parents nag me about it all.

For those who I havent told - so everyone - I passed my year at uni with an average 2:2 Not bad goven that I put in no effort at all except my maths exam which I got 59% in. i will work hard next year and walk out of the year with a 2:1 or a first. The delusion of degrees being easy has gone after my worry about failing. I think I am actually learning my lesson for not attending.

In a totally different direction, Im very busy with work at the moment, lots to do and it seems as though it isn't even scratching the surface of my debt. Really annoying it is. Speaking of work, I had to post a letter for them today, so I did it on the way home. i say on the way home, I went out of my way to post it in /that/ phone box. Just a bit of info there, such a blast form the past! Speaking of post, I'm still waiting for a postcard from you! Best not hold my breath though.

Oh well, house needs cleaning and I need a bath.

Later!

the same update as in my space Jun. 18th, 2005 @ 02:35 pm
This has a lot to do with download festival and what I though of the bands I saw. Then I bitch about being single. You neednt read the rest of it now!

well here goes, for those who dont want to read much of my babbling, please turn away now!

Well I'm back home(again - read on for details) and working stupid amounts. Infact I have work in a couple of hours today so I better rsh through this and have food! I ahve been working stupid amounts given that Im on an 8 hour contract. I cant complain really, i need the money to pay off the debts i owe to seemingly increasing parties. I have 3 days off in the next 3 weeks, which sould be fine given that i need the money, but my parents are away so I was going to take a weekend off and have a house party. that cant happen now because Im always at work.

As for being back again, I returned from download on monday. What an experience. it was my first festival and also my first major live gig in one. If i had the money, i would always be giggine round and having fun. Quick revies of the bands coming abou now(ish) so scroll down if you dont want to read them:-

Flogging Molly - Kerrang! rating 5K's. I totally agree. They were a fantastic start to the weekend and I looked forward to them from the start!

Fozzy - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Cant agree with them because I only saw a couple of songs so I could say I have seen Chris Jericho. Not too bad from what I heard, but 3K's would be justifiable.

Wednesday 13 - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Saw quite a bit of these, but they are mainly aimes at kids who have to hear swearing in a song to thnk a band is cool. Have to give them credit because they could get more youngsters into this musical madness. Again 3K's would be a limit for me.

JJ72 - Kerrang! rating 2K's. What were kerrang thinking? These were really good. As a friend of mine said, they are like Placebo, but heavier and more depressing. Really good live and another band to get 3K's from me.

The Others - Kerrang! rating 1K. that tops it. I'd have given them the first ever -10K's because they were that shit and should have been taken off form the start of their set. Nuff said.

Biffy Clyro - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Spot on review. Fantastic set and music, not good enough to get 5k's though. Needs a special touch.

Megadeth - Kerrang! rating 5K's. Dave Mustaine said himself that he would see us again. With this being billed as their last every UK gig, that detracts from the special circumstances I got to see them under. And being billed as such, I expected more of a spectacle. 4K's from me.

Garbage - Kerrang! rating 3K's. Shirly Manson kept us entertained with her outfit fallign apart through the set so she spoke and joked on while she was trying to fix it. A few technical errors occuring but a good set. 4K's from captains corner.

Feeder - Kerrang! rating 3K's. Possibly biased by kerrang because they are not heavy enough for the festival? I thought they wree fantastic and did a very good job of headlining the main stage. Another 4K's from me.

Trivium - Kerrang! rating 5K's. Well deserved 5K's from these. A fantastic opening for the saturday. I agree with Kerrang.

The Dwarves - Kerrang! rating 2K's. Possibly, just beacause of the naked guitarist. But I'd rather he kept it to himself that he fucked my mother and pissed in my fathers arse the previous night, like he did with about 45,000 other people's parents. 1K from me.

Mad Capsule Markets - Kerrang! rating 3K's. A fully energetic set, but nothing other than energy to make it memorable. 3K's is agreed by me.

A - Kerrang! rating 3K's. I thought this was a very good set , but again, nothing memorable, well justified with their rating.

Bowling for Soup - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Their music didnt qiute fit in with the weekend, but they made the most of the time and kept us entertained with wise crack comments and general shite like that. It was totally fantastic and I agree with Kerrang again.

Meshugga - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Good form what I heard, but i didnt see much so they can only have 3K's from me.

Bullet for my Valentine - Kerrang! rating 3K's. Despite a Download frowned upon 'Emo' look, they had some fantastic music and I really enjoyed them. Only downfall, they are from fucking Bridgend!!! I'll geve them 4K's, even if they are from Bridgend.

Lamb of God - Kerrang! rating 4K's. I dont think this was justified as I'm not a fan and didnt think they wree that good. They did get a huge circle pit going however but nothing special. 3K's form captrains corner.

Chimaira - Kerrang! rating 4K's. Totally seconded. A mind blowing set. If i knew some of their stuff before I got there, they may have got 5K's from me, but i didnt so Im sticking with the official Kerrang rating.

In flames - Kerrang! rating 5K's. Totally. Nuff said, they were awesome!

DV8 - Kerrang! rating 3K's. A heavier new age Hanson. Granted they are talented, but their songs are just plain shit. 2K's.

Society 1 - Kerrang! rating 4K's. As far as extreme showmanship goes, they win with the singer doing the set suspended by 4 hooks in his back for the whole time, just to set a world record for longets suspension. 4K's just for being suspended for 30 mins.

Mudvayne - Kerrang! rating 3K's. I love these on record, so was really looking forward to them. They were, however, shit. they even managed to rush through and ruin 'Dig', the bastards. 2K's.

Papa Roach - Kerrang! rating 2K's. These were loads better than Mudvayne and the Dwarves, and the set list was really good. 3K's from me.

Killswitch Engage - Kerrang! rating 4K's. I didnt like them live, despite their excellence on record. 3K's

Nightwish - Kerrang! rating 4K's. they were running late, and there is no way I was going to miss Lacuna Coil for them. Love the 2 songs I heard, so 3K's.

Lacuna Coil - Kerrang! rating 3K's. Love them on record, they sounded great live, but it was nothing special at all. 3K's is a good review.

Slipknot - Kerrang! rating 4K's. FUCKING HELL WOW!!!!! never seen them before, and never really liked the records for some strange reason, but they blew me away. Should have headlined with the stuff they did. 5K's from me, despite clown not being there!

System of a Down - Kerrang! rating 5K's. They were good. Im not a fan of these really, but i did enjoy the lighing effects they had. It was a good end to the festival, but they never thanked us, said "this is our last song" or even good bye. Such rude people. 4K's.

Thats everyone I saw and I really enjoyed the weekend. Alex, Stu and myself went from uni with Dan and Alison that know Alex also going with us. Stu and Alison got together on the first night and now dating. I fulfilled my promise to him by singing "can you feel the love tonight" from the 'Lion King' as he, Chris and I promised to sing to eachother when we were witha girl and something was going on(other than sex) i.e. a relationship. Now Chris and Stu have had it sang to them, I not only feel left out, but lonely. It seems as though everyone is in a relationship, but no-one likes me. Being single is fun because you dont have to worry about what your partner thinks of your drinkiong habits, friends or your general life style, but I have been single now for 8 months or more, and I would like to know that someone needs me as much as I need them. I just feel lonely.

Back to my working pattern. Working loads in the coming weeks due to people taking holdays and staffing levels being at stupidly low levels. With my granda being ill means I will have to go and see him when I get the chance. Its not that I dont want to, because I do, Its just I will get hardly any tim to myself while my parents and sister are away, which was my reason for not going on the holiday. Also means I wont be able to see the people I want to see during my time off. Guess I'll have to arrange a few days for a load of people to come and crash in my house. Should be interesting.

Anyway, time to get stuff ready for work. Till next time, take care people.

Okay here's how it goes. List 5 reasons why you are a dork. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud about how big of a dork you are! Then pick the 5 biggest dorks you know and have them do the meme.

1. Not so much dork as geek/nerd, but I'm on a computer science degree so I'm forever faffing about with computers and having fun. Software engineering, calming and relaxing, surely a dork type thing. Possibly just me!

2. Openly admit to being a nerd/geek and being proud of it. I had an argument with my frind about who was the bigger geek/nerd, him with his film degree or me with my computer degree with aspects of physics and maths. I still say it was me

3. My button moon poster. I am highly possesive about it. Theere are 3 posters I cannot bring myself to part with, that is one of them. The other two are my Toy Story 2 poster witht he slogan "the toys are back in town" and my homer simpson one which states "to alcohol-the cause of-and solution to-all of lifes problems" People try to claim them, i go to kill them!

4. I got over excited about frubes. frubes, as many are aware, are yoghurt in a tube. They were on buy one get one free in the co-op at uni. I bought them and went rather hyper about it...without even opening one and having their sugary yoghurty goodness.

5. I finish work in a video store only to come home and watch a film that I have no doubt rented from the aforementioned store. Failing that, I can choose a dvd from my collection that is about twice the size of my cd collection....possibly bigger. most people collect cds to listen to music to relax, I collect dvds so I can watch a film after my long day in a video shop!

That was actually challenging to do, took me about 20 mins so Ajay, im not amused that you maek me think at this time of the day!

C ya soon I hope!

Its been a while.... May. 29th, 2005 @ 11:26 am
but the update has arrived.

Not much to report really, I got home on friday evening after gruelling 7 hour journey(usually takes less then 6 even with a break) Needless to say, I was shattered after it. went to see my granda in hospital on the night, he was having a good day according to my dad which seemed ok, but he didn't seem too well. Not to worry, too much, but he is old and its to be expected!

Started work yesterday, makes for a laugh annoying customers and the likes. Im working at Blockbuster in Fram this summer and helping out im my mams store and wherever else im needed. Should be able to get my bank balance in credit, even with my bloody credit card! Im working 28 hours next week and getting paid for 40+ coz of bank holiday, plus the 12 hours this weekend taking th etotal to 50+ hours. This could be useful to that quest. means that even after tax I should have £200. I will move to claim my tax back with being a student type and everything so i could end up with more money to spend on computer stuff, alcohol and hockey stuff. not to mention petrol and other car stuffs.

Might get time off to visit people one day, if im lucky!

Catch y'all later!

Yeah, some things take a lot for me to or even get myself to. So imagine what it was like for me, a shy reserved person, to even make progress towards asking someone out. Yeah, after the "just friends" comment of her speech on wednesday and me feeling down, I decided to e-mail her (coz im a geek) with my contact details coz she'll need them next year for arranging hockey matches. I aint expecting a reply till Monday when she will probably check her uni e-mail account so there is a while for me to breathe and rest.

So far, still scared, but nevermind! Im off for food!
» here you go then Ajay
And you better respond!!!

Sarah, she is a girl I really like at uni, she lives about 150metres away from me and plays hockey. She is totally fantastic and I will be seeing quite a bit of her next year as she is the ladies 3rd team captain and I'm the mens.

Love life, still static, as in not happening yet, however I intend to set the ball rolling tomorrow night at one of the uni functions with her. Im gonna need a lot of luck but after losing half a stone in a week, im happy and feeling confident in myself.

Diet, one of those things that fat people go on to lose weight. Well mine is workign well witht he combination of it and lots of excersise. I was feeling depressed having broken my formal trousers last week when i tried to put them on and have bn on a diet ever since! Im doing well and im going to keep going.

Happy now Ajay?!?
» Slightly earlier than planned
I was going to give an update on my love life when things happened, but im in such a good mood today. You may remeber(and if not, read the last entry) I was feeling fat and everything, having broken my trousers. Well, it turns out, that with stupid amounts of excersise and healthy eating, I have lost half a stone in a week. Thats averaging 1lb per day! See, if you make yourself suffer, you can achive silly results. If i didnt start till 12 every day, i would be in the gym by 9am like i was today.

Go me!!!!

Oh, and I'll speak to Sarah tomorrow hopefully so wish me luck!
» Awake and Hungover
So no change form any other day for me then!

Guess I have a reason to celebrate though. Last night at the hockey club AGM I was voted in as Third Team captain. I dont talk much about hockey on here, which is strange, but I have been playing for the second team for a lot of games this season, so people were trying to put me off going for it, saying that they needed my presence in the seconds to score goals. Always nice to know that I'm wanted and needed, but I think its time I put somethign into the spoort I love so much. So I'm happy!

On the downside though, I am officially fat! Its only about 2 years since I could fit into trousers wich were a 32" waist, I tried putting my formal trousers on last night, and totally bust the zip on them....they are 38" waist. Not a good sign. I know i weigh about 2 stone too much and I know my clothes are uncomfortable coz I'm so fat, so I'm going on a low fat, low sugar diet and going to excersise more. Famous last words, I know, but I'm not happy at the moment about that.

In general, I am happy though coz I did get the captaincy I wanted, and It's reassuring when you find out that people argued a lot for me when I was out the room, all good things aswell. I may not have a relationship or anything at the moment, but it's nice to know Im loved on the hockey pitch!!!
» back at uni
and glad to be back.

i just have my clothes to unpack now, which is quite good for me. Usually ive managed about as much as my bed, dvds and computer stuff.

Me and the guys celebrated my birthday for last wednesday ina true hockey club fashion though. Despite only 3 of us being form the hockey club, we all did a bottle of sherry and then went down town. great, except i had the great idea of making cocktails before the sherryand stupidly went along witht he suggestion of doing a litre and a half of sherry. not good when the others were doing 75cl bottles. I got down town, had a drink or 2 int he pub and felt really rough so came back. Ive seen revolving rooms that spin less than my room did last night. all god fun, except the mess in the sink!

So im rather hungover, but glad to be back at uni.....time for a shower!
